By far the biggest challenge that we face is mental. We tend to worry about everything. Am I playing the right horn? The right mouthpiece? Am I breathing right? Standing right? Wearing my lucky shirt? Will my lip last? Will I hit that high note at the end? This is all very tiring and the nervous tension can be more tiring or demanding than the playing. You have probably seen players worry themselves so bad they missed note after note of a song.
What can be done?
One idea is simply, donít make it harder than it is. Stop thinking about that last note on the page and play the notes in front of you. You might surprise yourself.
